Sounds like Bix did rather well on this job!
At My Prom, We Had A Jimi
Hendrix Clone. Sigh...Note That
This Is From May 1931.

DUGALD (Jimmy) - Ray Baduc - Benny
Goodman
Atlantic City - 1929.  Many
thanks and love to Avis Ashcraft Wierzba,
Jack & Honeybear.  Can't wait to get back!
Tram's last public concert. During a tribute to
Bix, Tram is gazing at the chair with a cornet
on it. It was a pretty emotional night for
Tram. And a great one as well!
DID YOU KNOW?    Jimmy
McPartland mentioned that Bix usually
had to take that false tooth out when
he ate. Several times he almost
swallowed it!
And speaking of Jimmy. Did you know
that Jim and Jack Dempsey were
brother-in-laws for a time? They were
married to the Williams Sisters. Jimmy
and Jack were very good friends.
Jimmy even used to spar with Dempsey!
When i asked him how he did sparring
with Jack, Jim said, "Hey! I held my
own! But Jack was also very kind...
when I mentioned this to a few people,
they didn't believe it.  The photo on
the far left shows a guy who could
knock you into the next life. Joined the
infantry during WWII, he wanted to
duke it out with the enemy!
The photo above really does
look like Bix is going over one
of Mezz's arrangements!
JIMMY McPARTLAND - 17 years old - He's
just replaced Bix in the Wolverines, and is
on top of the world. George Johnson, the
tenor sax player of the Wolverines is on the
left.

TOP - Original contract for the 1974 "Man & Legend"
book. There are no others, and no amendments, ever.
Also, Phil HATED the name "Man & Legend." He wanted
no part of any Bix legend. He just wanted to present the
facts about Bix Beiderbecke. Others saw that a career
could be had with the legend. So he added to it.

BOTTOM -
R.S.  On why his name showed up first when the proofs
came back. It was then changed back to as stated on the
contract. Just before it went to print, R.S. called the
publisher, said Phil agreed to switch it back again. Which
he never did. Then Phil found out that the final proofs he
had sent back, were not the ones used in the book.
Clever as hell! But just wrong..This was 4 months before
the book came out.  OK Prof, spin that! Note: "As long as
Evans holds the overall title-page credits, as well he
should." But when the book hit big, he turned into Daffy
Duck. "IT'S MINE, ALL MINE! I'M FAMOUS! I DID IT
ALL. HE HAD NO BOOK!" Crime DOES pay, at least for
awhile....
That's right, folks! If Annette Hanshaw thinks
that Kazoo Lips CD's are fine, you know you're
getting a quality CD of some of the rarest
items that can be found. So go to your nearest
dealer and demand that he order your favorite
KAZOO LIPS CD's by the thousands! Or Else!
Well, that's good enough
for me! - Pete Kelly
