Chauncey was 21 years old. On
the right is another page from
his passport. The name of the
booker in England is J. Lyons.
Remember the name of the
promoter of the New England
Tour on the bus banner?
One of the hottest bands around! Bix used
to sit in with them whenever he could.
JUNE 1928. Frank Black is playing Bix's
"IN A MIST" on the radio, and he has it
arranged for Piano AND Orchestra!
The Paul Whitman Of Colored Orchestras.
The guy with the radio show. Peyton did
have a hot band! And he played a big part of
a
story about Bix! It will be in the book.
The clipping above is about Rex
Stewart from back in 1941. Bix and
Rex were a lot closer friends than
most people know, according to Louis
Metcalf. Bix really made his mark
on Rex, and he never got over it!
Hawkins was
OK, but he was
no Art

spoke with a
heavy mute.
Aw, C'mon Russ! Give us a break
here! It's not funny anymore.
OK, I'm wrong. "Fussy" Ferrer

is
funny. But you're so full of
it that you have to flush twice.
How many guys have a photo of their horn on
their passport?
Russ Morgan was on that England
Tour with Chauncey for Paul Specht.
While he was there, he introduced
drinking tea to the British.
Saint Bix! Harry was a great
player and a big fan of Bix! Also,
a fellow Scotch drinker. We had
a few great "all nighters" years
ago. Just a beautiful guy! His
band loved him.
Nice stories Dorothy. Say! Didn't they knock
you of
f over the Kennedy thing? Hmm. Yeah!
They did! No wonder.
What's that you said? Ol' Kazoo Lips
has got 99 cent downloads? Man,
that's just wonderful! I'll check it
out. But right now I'm in the middle
of a download myself, Pops. That
Swiss Kriss is like running a street
sweeper through your system...
